ABOUT DR. E

I’m Dr. E—an author, speaker, coach, and corporate leader with over 25 years of experience in finance, specializing in the insurance industry. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it has shaped me into the resilient leader I am today.

I grew up in a middle-class neighborhood on Long Island, New York, where I learned the values of hard work and perseverance. My father, a teacher turned principal, was a figure I desperately sought to please. But despite my efforts, his praise was rare, leaving me to grapple with self-doubt and the constant need for external validation. When my parents divorced, I watched my mother—without a degree and dependent on alimony—struggle to provide for us. Her resilience, even in the face of disability after several strokes, taught me the importance of independence and determination.

Determined to carve out a better path, I initially aspired to be a lawyer, but my undergraduate grades weren’t strong enough. Instead, I found my way into corporate America, starting in finance at an insurance company. I entered with the belief that hard work alone was the key to success, but I quickly learned that thriving in corporate life required much more: resilience, mentorship, personal branding, authenticity, and self-confidence.

Over the years, I have held leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies, including Highmark Health, Allstate, The Hartford, and AIG. As one of the few women of color in corporate boardrooms, I faced challenges that tested my confidence and resolve. When I was laid off in 2016, I felt like I had failed my father once again. But with the support of a mentor and advisor, I realized that my worth isn’t tied to external perceptions—it’s rooted in my own values and purpose.

Today, I am dedicated to helping other women, particularly women of color, navigate their own challenges and thrive in corporate environments. As the visionary behind the Elevate Your Value Summit™ and the creator of the Corporate Sisters Network, I provide resources, community, and inspiration for professional women seeking to elevate their careers and personal brands. My podcast, Elevate Your Corporate Value with Dr. E, and my books, including the “Letters to My Corporate Sisters” anthology series, amplify these messages of endurance, elevation, and encouragement.

I’ve been honored to earn the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2023 & 2024) and recognition as one of the 25 Transformational Entrepreneurs Making a Global Impact. Beyond my corporate work, I’m deeply involved in community service, currently holding leadership roles with non-profits Gwen’s Girls and Silver Eye Photography.
