Born and raised in the middle-class suburbs of Long Island, New York, Elizabeth “Dr. E” Carter grew up valuing hard work, inspired by her father, a school educator, and the civil servants in her neighborhood. However, her parents’ divorce and witnessing her mother’s struggles taught her that independence and resilience were essential.
